Three biologists speak about a scientific paper written by 24 women academics on how the way in which scientific careers are assessed works against women and minorities. From language barriers, number of citations, inadequate mentoring to lack of funding for publications, a myriad of factors determine how successful a scientific career is. These women are looking to promote more inclusive metrics of success.
They give a fascinating inside in the scientific community and how papers are published, the biaises that exists, the difficulty of accessing funding, the importance of a great mentor and much more!
