Shanghai Pride, Ladies Who Tech and more with Charlene Liu
Show Notes
Charlene Liu has become one of the iconic figures of the LGBT movement in Shanghai. She is also a co-founder of ‘Ladies Who Tech’ and a diversity and inclusion consultant.
She somehow always knew that she was gay but it’s only when she organised the Shanghai Pride festival that she finally accepted who she was, and then had the confidence to come out to friends, colleagues and even her family.
She is also an engineer and in 2016 she became the co founder of ‘Ladies Who Tech’, a convention that advocates for women working in tech industries.
Charlene had many disruptions and unpredictable turns in her life and she thinks that feeling comfortable and confident in her own skin would have been so much easier if she had had more role models as a young woman.
She is now combining all of her experiences in her job as a diversity and inclusion consultant.
